Sign my petition to upgrade Burpengary Train Station
Burpengary Community Association President Ed Nixon is campaigning with me to have the Burpengary Train Station upgrade fast-tracked.  Check out the story in this month's Features Magazine.
JOBS, JOBS, JOBS
Early works are almost complete on the Petrie Intersection Upgrade. Tenders have just gone out to build this $30m project, generating 60 jobs.
The contract has been awarded for the Lawnton Station Park n Ride.  Congratulations to Queensland Bridge and Civil who will build more than 250 new commuter parks, supporting more than 15 jobs.

Work has commenced (on the corner of Slater Avenue and Ebert Parade) and the new facility will include CCTV and lighting for commuter safety and security, as well as secure lock-up facilities for bicycles.
It’s official, the bunting is up at the Bruce Highway Interchange, Burpengary (New Settlement Road - Deception Bay).  It's awesome to see work moving ahead on this project, supporting more than 265 jobs.
Works have started on the Dayboro and Vores Roads intersection upgrade at Whiteside. With design now complete, crews will work through to October to build the new dedicated right turn lane and guide posts on the westbound lane.  Feedback from the community means a continuous yellow line (no parking zone) will also be included, allowing motorists turning out of Vores Road with an unobstructed view.
Our government is delivering a neighbourhood centre in Kallangur.  As the former MP for this area, I fought hard for this funding which will also benefit Narangba residents through its service area.  It was fantastic that one of the busiest people in Queensland - Deputy Premier, Health Minister and Member for Murrumba, Steven Miles - could be there for a joint sod turning on 17 July.
There's no denying our $41 million Dakabin Station accessibility upgrade is in full swing!  The new overhead bridge has just been assembled :-)

Renewable energy is an important part of our economic recovery strategy in Queensland and I am so proud that almost 10,000 homes in the Kurwongbah electorate already have rooftop solar panels.

Together, we are reducing carbon emissions, driving down power prices and creating jobs.

WORKS 4 QLD
I was very pleased to join Local Government Minister Stirling Hinchliffe, Mayor Peter Flannery, Cr Darren Grimwade (pictured) and the Executive from the Narangba Rangers RLFC (pictured with Secretary, Karen Walker) in early July to announce that the club will receive funding for their long awaited lower oval Amenities Block.  Watch our video here.

Funded under the Palaszczuk Government's Works 4 QLD program, this $300,000 project is part of almost $8 million dollars delivered to Moreton Bay Regional Council for:
  • new equipment in parks and playgrounds;
  • upgraded footpaths, bus shelters and car parks; and
  • improved community amenities such as boat ramps and sports clubs.
Other projects in the Kurwongbah electorate are:
  • Ron Thomason Park path extension (Lawnton)
  • River Oak Way Playground renewal (Narangba)
  • Young Street footpath (Petrie)
  • New bus stop on Station Road (Burpengary)

SUPPORTING LOCAL BUSINESS
This month I've been meeting up with recipients of our Small Business Adaptation Grants to find out how this money will help them adapt and survive in our new COVID-19 conscious world.  #supportsmallQLD

I also visited Kangaroo Bus Lines at Burpengary with Hon Mark Ryan MP, to check out their new wheelchair accessible bus (pictured above); and met with Joyner based business Brizscapes (below) to hear how things are going.
On 6 July I joined the Emergency Services Minister, Hon Craig Crawford, visiting Petrie Fire Station to say thank you to the 16 Firefighters and Station Officers.  I am proud to have secured funding for this station back in 2016 – a $4.2 million investment in keeping local families safe.  Click to watch our video.

OUT AND ABOUT AGAIN
Thanks to the dedicated efforts of Queenslanders, we're able to enjoy the easing of restrictions across our State.  And I'm not wasting a minute!

Pics above from my recent mobile offices.  Thanks to Jimmy the Barrarister (and Chilli Coffee extraordinaire), and the Hideout team for helping me surprise a few customers with free morning coffees :-)

Pics below (clockwise from top left):
Meeting our newest Police Officer at Burpengary Police Station on 8 June.
Touring Redwood College in Burpengary on 25 June.
Placing a wreath for Vietnam Veterans Day on 18 August.
Tossing the coin for the Narangba Eagles game on 2 August.
It was awesome to visit Burpengary Play and Learn with my 'neighbour', Chris Whiting MP, on 29 June.  We presented a new Queensland flag to the centre and the preppies did a great job of holding it up for our photo below :-)
Queensland Transport Minister Mark Bailey and I met with community advocates to celebrate the passing of our legislation to extend disability parking options to legally blind Queenslanders.  As the Chair of the Transport and Public Works Committee, I felt some ownership of this legislation and was pleased to have the opportunity to speak on it in the Parliament on 14 July.  Read or watch my speech.
Thanks to the fantastic work of the P&C, Kurwongbah State School now has a Containers for Change drop off location.  Great news for Petrie - Kurwongbah locals.

Since we introduced 10c refunds in November 2018, 2 billion containers have been recycled!
The Narangba State School team took me through their newly upgraded building on 21 July, refurbished and now complete with learning walls.  Pictured below.  It's great to see State funds improving opportunities for our students.

Next stop... air conditioning and solar panels!
While I did become a fan of Zoom, it's been great to get back to school P&C meetings in person.  Since restrictions were eased I've made it or sent a representative to:
  • Burpengary State School
  • Petrie State School
  • Burpengary State Secondary College
  • Lawnton State School
  • Jinibara State School
We're back on at Lakeside Park Raceway!  No surprise I was one of the first through the gates...  On 23 July to see the GEAR cars getting around the track (pictured above).  And on 2 August for the Chrome Bumper Day (pictured above, top).
At the end of July I handed over the Care Bags collected by my office in this year's Sweet Dreams and Good Night Wishes Care Bag Appeal.  Thank you to Melissa (pictured) and her team for the hard work they put into this annual project.  This year 76 bags were dropped into my office.

Thanks to the Kurwongbah community for your generosity and a great big thank you to foster carers everywhere for your dedication and care.  Read or watch my speech to Parliament on this important topic.
A POINT OF DIFFERENCE...
Our government did this:
The LNP did this:
And Pauline Hanson's One Nation Party, well...
